Short bio

I was born in Trento, Italy in 1961, and received the Laurea degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Padova in 1987, with a thesis on lexical analysis for synthesis purposes. In 1988 I joined IRST as Researcher of the Acoustic and Speech Recognition group. I always worked in the field of Automatic Speech Recognition, contributing to the realization of various prototypes and systems. I worked in the following EU projects: Speedata, M-Piro, PF-Star, C-Oral-Rom, Vico, Homey, TC-Star, QALL-ME, Jumas, Tosca-MP, EU-BRIDGE, Dirha. In the past years, my research interests included mainly morphological analysis, language modelling, speech synthesis, speech database acquisition and labelling, search and word graphs for speech recognition, speech recognition over the telephone, confidence measures for speech recognition, emotion recognition, mixed initiative dialogue modelling, multilingual speech recognition.
