The SHINE research unit conducted research on audio signal processing and interpretation, with a particular focus on speech signals acquired by multi-microphone systems in noisy and reverberant environments, from 1998 to 2008 under Istituto Trentino di Cultura (ITC)-irst, and from 2008 to 2017 under FBK.
The main activities concerned Robust Speech Recognition, Far-field Speech Interaction, Acoustic Scene Analysis, and Musical Scene Analysis.
Besides research, a major goal of the unit was the development of real-time prototypes and showcases, and the transfer to the market of the most promising technologies.
